WORLD DAY AGAINST CHILD ABUSE: NGO Coalition [call for applications]

The Women's World Summit Foundation (WWSF) is happy to share with the CRIN network
that more than 480 organisations from over 90 countries joined the international
coalition and marked the World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse, on 19 November in
2004 with activities and events. The list of coalition organisations is published at
http://www.woman.ch and a global impact report 2004 is in preparation.

The main purpose of the NGO Coalition is to contribute to the creation of a culture
of prevention of child abuse and form a global partnership network to raise
awareness, mobilise public opinion and action, and disseminate prevention
programmes. To join the Coalition, members commit to mark the Day with local and
national events and activities; mention the Day in their publications and on their
websites; distribute posters, educational programmes and information; create
partnerships with local organisations working for the promotion and protection of
the rights of the child, alert the press and radio stations, inform local
authorities of the existence of the Day and planned activities, and lobby
governments for official proclamation of the Day as a National Day.

Organisations that wish to join the 2005 coalition to mark the World Day (or those
wishing to renew their membership) should visit the WWSF website at
http://www.woman.ch/children/1-register.asp. Organisations' names will then be
printed on the global poster 2005 and published on the Internet. [Source: CRIN]

Application deadline: 1 June 2005
