JUVENILE JUSTICE: Kids in Prison - a Child Rights Perspective [conference]

Date: 30 June - 2 July 2005
Location: Bethlehem, Palestine

Defence for Children International/Palestine Section will be hosting the 2005 DCI
International Conference on the theme of Juvenile Justice under the title "Kids in
Prison - A Child Rights Perspective". The Conference will place particular emphasis
on the challenges confronting children in prison. It will provide a forum in which
to discuss a variety of issues that youth are faced with, and an opportunity to
share experiences and explore solutions. The conference will bring a new dynamic to
the juvenile justice debate, acting as a launch pad for regional and international
initiatives designed to raise awareness of the issue. It will hopefully narrow the
often vast gap between international legal instruments and practice.
