The Singapore Children's Society, under the auspices of the International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN), is organising the 6th ISPCAN Asian Regional Conference on 16-18 November 2005 in Singapore. The theme of the conference will be "Protecting Children: Asian Perspectives and Beyond".
Child protection work has evolved from humble beginnings to the present global stature. While some countries are more advanced in this area of work, others are just beginning to become involved. Child abuse and neglect prevention is and will continue to be a challenge for many, both in the developed and developing countries. Despite the varied focus as a result of the societal make-up of the different countries, there are overlapping concerns. In keeping the belief that there are similarities underneath the differences, the conference organisers will draw on Asian insights with a cross continental exchange of experiences.
The conference sub-themes are: identification and management of child abuse and neglect; prevention of child abuse and neglect; social and cultural issues; children's rights and voices; legal, medical, educational aspects; interdisciplinary collaboration; research and policy. The conference organisers would like to invite participants to submit abstracts on the above themes for oral and poster presentations at the conference.[Source: CRIN]
Submission deadline: 31 July 2005
